Something Queued

I created a Spotify playlist (attached through the widget to the right or here) full of songs that I found comfort or community through during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. This situation has made me recognize my own needs in a clearer sense and incentivized me to give myself more intentional self-care time. It’s lengthy and a big roller coaster of feelings that’s pretty representative of how up and down I’ve been feeling lately. The playlist is best when shuffled.

My ultimate #quarantineanthem is “Let It All Out (10:05)” by COIN. No matter what mood I’m in, I can find solace (and oftentimes a good cry) in this song.

I was very fortunate to be able to come back to a safe living environment without many hardships during the pandemic, but that does not invalidate any anxiety or disillusionment I’ve experienced. It’s very possible to recognize and support others who are dealing with drastically different realities while still giving yourself room to cope. As the last song on the playlist says, “you have to be soft to be strong.”
